When taking a
quiz in Accelerated Reader, the student clicks on [Yes] to confirm he wants to
take the selected quiz but the quiz does not start. Instead, the browser
displays, ”You are currently taking a quiz. Please switch back to that window”.
If the student logs back in and chooses to take a quiz again, a message in the
browser tells the student he has previously started the quiz, but answered no
receive a pop-up blocking message when starting to work on lessons in English
in a Flash. The complete message is “Please see your teacher for help. If the
quiz did not load correctly, this computer may have popup blocking software.
You can adjust your blocker to allow this site, or click the start button
below.” When the student clicks on the
[Start] button, the button might disappear, or the lesson may start.
receive a pop-up blocking message when starting to work in MathFacts in a Flash
at school. The complete message is, “Click the button below to start working.
If the test or practice did not load correctly, this computer may have popup
blocking software. You can adjust your blocker to allow this site, or click the
start button below”. When the student clicks on the [Start] button, either the
test or practice loads or nothing happens.
a Flash TOPS reports don’t print, although students don’t see an error.
to “Take a Test” in STAR Early Literacy, then clicking the [Start] button, the
browser displays, “This student currently has work in progress. Please return
to that window”.
to “Take a Test” in STAR Math or STAR Reading, nothing happens when the student
clicks on the [Start] button.
the message, “Work in Progress. This student currently has work in progress. Please
return to that window” when logging into Renaissance Home Connect and clicking
on “Start Practicing” on the MathFacts in a Flash tab.
blocking software is preventing your Renaissance Place program from functioning
If you have
installed the Yahoo! or Google Toolbar, the built-in pop-up blocker is enabled
by default. (Refer to KB article #4751375 for more information on why you might
have one of these toolbars.) To allow pop-ups from your Renaissance Place
website when using the Google Toolbar or Yahoo! Toolbar, click on the
appropriate icon in your toolbar and make the change. You may also choose to
uninstall the toolbar using the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.
browsers also include an option to block pop-ups which is enabled by default.
Refer to the instructions below for the browser you are using.
Explorer 6 with
the Windows XP Service Pack 2 updates and Internet Explorer 7 and above all include
a pop-up blocker. Follow these instructions to disable it:
1) Open Internet Explorer.
2) Click on the Tools Menu, then Internet
3) Click on the Privacy tab.
4) Under the Pop-up Blocker section,
remove the check from “Block pop-ups” in IE6 or “Turn on Pop-up Blocker” in IE
7 and above, or click on [Settings] and add your Renaissance Place web site to
the list of allowed sites. You may also add *.renlearn.com to allow pop-ups
across the entire domain.
5) Click [Apply], then [OK].
on the Firefox Menu, then Options.
on the Content Menu.
uncheck the option to “Block pop-up windows” or click on [Exceptions…] and add
your Renaissance Place site as an exception. You may also add *.renlearn.com to
allow pop-ups across the entire domain.
on Settings, then “Show advanced settings…”.
on [Content settings…] under the Privacy section.
check the option to “Allow all sites to show pop-ups” or click on [Manage
exceptions…] and add your Renaissance Place site as an exception. You may also
add [*.]renlearn.com to allow pop-ups across the entire domain.
on the Safari Menu, then Preferences.

function a bit differently when working in Safari on iPads. If the built-in pop-up
blocker is turned off, students will see an alert stating, “This site is
attempting to open a pop-up window” with options to Block and Allow. They need to
tap [Allow]. If they tap [Block] the new window will not open. If the pop-up
blocker is on, all pop-ups are disabled and students will not see this
alert. To turn the pop-up blocker off:
Safari in the list on the left.
the Block Pop-ups setting off by moving the slider to the left. On iPads
running iOS version 7, the setting will change from green to white. On older
iPads, the setting will change from blue to white and display OFF.
