Which Star reports are designed to only be used during the current school year, and which are recommended for end-of-year reporting?
Reason:
Several Star reports are designed to be used during the "current" school year in the Renaissance software, to help ensure you are providing an environment in which all students are learning and progressing towards mastery of grade-level standards. When the next school year starts in the Renaissance software, you will only be able to generate certain reports for students enrolled in the new year's classes, even when using 'All Time' as the reporting period.
Resolution:
To capture accurate data for where students are at the end of a school year, we recommend generating a few reports after students have tested and prior to the end of the current school year. You may want to use this information to make curriculum decisions for the next school year.
For administrators, we suggest printing/saving the following reports:
- Consolidated Assessment Proficiency Report
- Star Screening Report
- Star Growth Report
For teachers, we suggest printing/saving the following reports:
- Student Progress Monitoring Report
- State Standards Mastery - Individual Report
- Instructional Planning - Student Report
Below, we list all Star reports that are designed to only be used during the "current" school year. If you would like to retain any of these reports, you should do so before the new school year starts. Note: If the previous year in Renaissance has ended, but the new year has not started, these reports will continue to report on data from the school year that just ended.
- Consolidated Reports - Consolidated Reports (found under Reports > Administrator tab > Customizable Reports section) can be generated for prior years or all time, however are based on current student enrollment.
- Instructional Planning Student Report - This report can include a prior year test if the student has not yet tested in current school year. Once the student has tested, this report will only report on the most recent assessment taken in the current year.
- Star Growth Report - This report can be generated for prior years; however, it will only include data based on current class enrollment. Note: Window Specific Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs) are calculated if you select a prior school year during the report customization (in the School Year drop-down list).
- Star Screening Report - This report can only be generated for the current school year's screening periods. There is no 'All Time' or 'Custom Dates' option.
- Star State Performance - Class Report - This report will only report on the most recent assessment taken. Note, if you select 'All Time' as the reporting period, the students current grade level is still shown.
- Star Student Progress Monitoring Report - This report can be generated for prior years, or all time, based on current class enrollment however benchmark data that appears for any prior year tests will use the cut scores that are set up in the software at the time the report is generated. Additionally, only goals for the current year will be included.
