When printing a report from Renaissance web-based applications either the page is blank or there is a printer error.

Issue:

When printing a report from Renaissance web-based applications one of the following occurs:

  • The page is blank except for the address bar at the bottom.

  • The page prints only the browser frame with the address bar at the bottom.

  • The page prints the browser frame with the message, The document in this frame cannot be printed as laid out. This frame will be printed separately.

  • A printer error indicates, Printing failed when starting the document. 

Reason:

You are clicking on the printer icon in the browser tool bar or choosing Print or Print Preview from the browser File Menu, instead of clicking on the Print icon within the embedded Adobe Acrobat Reader frame.

Resolution:

Use the Print icon within Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Adobe Reader X and XI

If you are using Adobe Reader X or XI, the toolbar might not be visible. By default, the toolbar floats over the PDF when viewing a PDF in a browser. To activate the floating toolbar in order to print or save the PDF, move the mouse across the center of the screen, towards the bottom. You may also click the Adobe trefoil icon in the toolbar or just press <F8> on your keyboard to temporarily show the toolbar within the embedded PDF window.

If you are using Adobe Reader X version 10.0.x, 10.1.1 or 11.x and would like the toolbar to show by default, follow these steps:

1)    Launch Adobe Reader X or XI.

2)    Click on the Edit Menu and choose Preferences.

3)    Click on the Internet category on the left.

4)    On the right side, under Web Browser Options, uncheck the box to Display in Read Mode by default.

5)    Click [OK] and close Adobe Reader X or XI.

Note: Changing this preference has no effect in Adobe Reader X version 10.1.0. If you have installed that version either upgrade to version 10.1.1 or 11.x or use one of the other workarounds.
